Christmas Laughs

Our family got a kick out of  a couple of videos this Christmas break...

Tribute to John Williams

All the Single Ladies

An Ode to his Taste in Art

Yesterday Trevor and my sister were discussing cameras and photos that they liked. Here is a little taste of some of Trevor's art.

Christmas Day 2008

Talvyn and Daxtyn were so cute playing with their new toys and admiring the general splendor of it all. After we had the morning to ourselves, my family came over for family dinner at 3:00. We and Deny & Family, Danny, Dina & Family, all enjoyed a large meal of prime rib, fish, baked potatoes, salad, rolls, veggies, punch, and too many goodies to name. We played the Wii, watched the Celtics loose to the Lakers (boo), and glutonized ourselves all afternoon. It was a good day. We just needed the rest of the family to be here...

Christmas Eve 2008

For Christmas Eve this year we got together with Dina's family. We ate nachos, had drinks (7-up with a plethora of syrup flavors and limes), read the Christmas story, and had a good time just being together.

Lettuce Wraps

P.F. Changs Lettuce Wraps

Last night I tried to make lettuce wraps and came across this recipe. My sister loves these, so this recipe is for you DeAnna. We loved them.

Reading?

The other day I watched an info-mercial about a reading program(your baby can read) for babies. I was pretty intrigued because Talvyn seemed really interested. I went on line with Talvyn and watched the demo videos. He was so excited. He then went into his bedroom and picked out a book that I hadn't read to him before and he read it to me. It was a very simple book A is for apple, B is for bear, etc. I am so proud that he recognizes letters, uses context clues, recognizes sight words, and is trying to spell words on his own (as shown below in his oven picture, spelled uvn). He is so excited to learn how to read, and I am so excited for him.

More of Talvyn's Schoolwork

For One Brief Moment

The laundry is completely washed, folded, and put away.

The house is clean.

My children are content on their own.

The house is quiet and calm.

Dinner is almost ready.

For one brief moment...it feels like I am winning.

A Tale of Two Chopsticks

Today we watched Kung Fu Panda as a family. While watching the 'extras' about chopsticks, we decided to practice using chopsticks. Trevor and I practiced while Talvyn was out of the room. We had finally learned and were picking up food when in walks Talvyn. He immediately wanted to learn. To disway his eager interest, I almost said, "it is too hard," but my wonderful husband interrupted saying sure and begins teaching him. He layed the straws (our closest things to chopsticks) in Talvyn's hands and backed away saying now you pinch with them. Talvyn immediately reaches towards the food with his 'chopsticks,' picks up a piece of chicken, and starts eating.

This reminds me that children learn so fast if we are willing to teach them, and that things aren't always going to be as hard as they look.
